The Campbell SparkVent is a 3D-printed open-source ventilator for emergency use in the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Campbell SparkVent was developed by a group of doctors, engineers and designers based in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
Our aim is to produce an open-source 3D-printed ventilator design that is safe, reliable and cost-effective. It uses a radical design that avoids a traditional ventilator design’s need for bellows through the use of a Venturi tube. The SparkVent has only one moving part in the design, simplifying the entire design, minimising cost and increasing safety.
The ventilator is currently undergoing clinical testing in real world conditions, and if we pass this difficult challenge, we look forward to partnering with other organisations to manufacture the ventilator on a large scale.
